Scrappy Trip Along Quilt

I actually finished a quilt this week. I have a stack of eleven (it was twelve) quilt tops that just need quilting and binding to be complete. Since moving I haven't done much quilting, at first it was that my batting hadn't made it into the house, then it was my curved safety pins. Thankfully now I have everything on hand and should start getting some quilts finished this year!

According to Instagram I made my first Scrappy Trip block 131 weeks ago and had the twelve I made for the quilt finished 129 weeks ago, during January 2013. That means this quilt has been waiting 2.5 years to be quilted!

This was the first (and only to date) scrappy quilt I've made. I'm not sure they're really my thing. Maybe it's just that my scraps are more eclectic than I would like.  Saying that I have fallen a little more in love with this quilt since I've had it out again. I'm very glad that happened!  Fabric lines include Frolic and Hometown as well as prints from Riley Blake, Michael Miller and others from Spotlight.

The layout is 3x4 12 inch squares finishing it at approx 36x42 which is a nice baby size quilt.

I've backed it in this cheater print by Saffron Craig I found on the clearance table at my local spotlight a while back.

I quilted it in all over loops. using white Rasant thread.  I contemplated matchstick quilting but in the end loops won out on Monday night as I wanted to be able to bind it at a meeting I had on Wednesday night.

I bound it in some fabric I dyed myself. It was originally Bella White 98, but I rinsed it in some navy dye I was using the other week and attempted to crate a bit of an ombré effect. It didn't really work but I do dig the colour. I used Rit Liquid dye in Navy and probably only had this in the dye for 5-10 minutes.

I'm glad to do a bit of quilting again and very happy to have fallen for this quilt all over again! Be sure to check out other Scrappy Trip quilts using #scrappytripalong on Instagram.

I have quite a fabric stash.  I rolled 90% of my fabric before Christmas and calculated that I have over 100m of yardage!  That only includes pieces a 1/2 metre of over.  It doesn't include any of my precuts (eek!)

I figured I might try and chronicle some of the things I want to sew on my quilty  bucket list.  Or at least make myself accountable for sewing things in my stash.  See this post by Leasa for more info.

I am in love with this quilt by Camille! So much so I'm thinking about opening up my prized 'Make Life' Fat Quarter Bundle to make one similar!

I'm collecting charm packs.  With the intention of one day making a bed quilt using all of my favourite fabric collections.  This is my collection so far, it really does include some special collections!

  

 



 

Mixing these two together...  Somehow for something, maybe a baby boy quilt.  If I ever need to make one that is!

 I'm going to need to make a blue quilt using my blue stash, this is just part of it!

 

 

When I went overseas in 2011 I collected fabrics of places I went that would remind me of my holiday with the intention of making a quilt using them.  They haven't made it that far yet, they just look pretty on my shelf.  Maybe this year will be the year.

 

 

 

 

I have everything set aside for this quilt.  The top is made, the back is pieced, the binding fabric is set aside but it's still not done.  Good thing I have a resolution to #FinishIt2015 too!

 



 

A Cheerio quilt using Bliss and Miss Kate, I think they work well together!

 



 

I've had this fabric (Along with solids) for a Come What May quilt for my nephew for ages! He has a fire engine bed and it would look adorable!

 

 

 

I also have this pile.  It is very precious!  I am a bit of a Sweetwater fan.  I would love a pure Jelly Roll too, maybe one day!
