Sunday Stash #7 - This is why you visit you LQS

July 19, 2015

I love online shopping. It's easy, it's convenient, I don't need to get out of my pyjamas. But I really do encourage you all to check out your local quilt shop from time to time. Especially as they often tend to hold stock longer than their online counterparts.

One of my local quilt shops is horendous at keeping old stock at full price.  By old stock I mean years old.  It had been so bad and so expensive I rarely went.

However I was out there with some friends and decided to check it out.  I am SO glad I did.  I scored big time.

Two ombre junior jelly roles by V and Co from her first line Simply Color!  For only $20 each!

I have already made a quilt using one of these jelly rolls before, but for these I have plans to make a Metro Rings quilt.  I think it will look FAB!

Sunday Stash

I mean just look how delicious they are!

Linking up with Molli Sparkles for Sunday Stash today.

  1. I too enjoy a good sale at the LQS. While it was not on sale, I added some yardage of Carolyn Friedlander's Architextures to my stash because it was just hanging out unloved on the end of a bolt at my LQS. That stuff is gone from online shops!

    1. I have some lines like that! I managed to find a Tula Pink Hushabye Layer Cake at this LQS a few years ago, also at full price but long long out of print. Last time I checked they still had some yardage of it too!

  2. I love online shopping too! However sometimes it's fun to touch and feel the fabric from the LQS! One of your local shops has bolts stacked from floor to ceiling, a shop crammed full, but she never ever has sales/clearance! Which is a shame. Love your rolls and I'm sure you will make something spectacular!

    1. Thanks Jayne! I better finish at least some of the quilts I have started before I begin a new one :)

  3. I love finding those off-the-beaten-path shops that have older stuff. I just scored some of Basic Grey's PB&J. Woo hoo! For that line, I'll happily pay full price. : )

Congrats on your discoveries! Looking forward to what you create with them!

    1. Surprisingly this shop isn't really off the beaten path. It's at a little local attraction about 10 minutes north of the town I live in now. I'm often surprised they have so much older, sought after stuff given how seemingly popular they are!

  4. That's not a score, that's like winning jelly roll lotto. What a super find. Sometimes I'll pass over something on line only to come across it locally and seeing it in person makes all the difference. And it just has to come home with me.

    1. I love the thought of a Jelly Roll Lotto! Maybe Precut Powerball should be a thing! I felt exactly like that with Sweetwaters Varsity line. I was very Meh about it online but fell in love with it in person!
