Sunday Stash #8 - Mystery Fabric

I failed at my attempt at No Buy July!  Lincraft was having a 50% off all fabric sale and I went in to have a look.  Saying that I only spent $15 so that really is still quite successful.

I'd seen the new patterns Sarah at Ohhh Lulu had released and really liked the look of her Emma Romper, after all we share a name :).

Anyway I saw this fabric in Lincraft and knew it would be prefect!

I have no idea what fabric it is and I'm stumped.  It has the texture of a crepe, but its thicker than I've ever seen a crepe.  It seems like it is has a brushed back given how soft it is.  It also has the really generous stretch.  It also had no tag which would be right.

Anyway, I can't wait to see how it turns out!  I'm hoping it will be amazing!

Sunday Stash #7 - This is why you visit you LQS

I love online shopping. It's easy, it's convenient, I don't need to get out of my pyjamas. But I really do encourage you all to check out your local quilt shop from time to time. Especially as they often tend to hold stock longer than their online counterparts.

One of my local quilt shops is horendous at keeping old stock at full price.  By old stock I mean years old.  It had been so bad and so expensive I rarely went.

However I was out there with some friends and decided to check it out.  I am SO glad I did.  I scored big time.

Two ombre junior jelly roles by V and Co from her first line Simply Color!  For only $20 each!

I have already made a quilt using one of these jelly rolls before, but for these I have plans to make a Metro Rings quilt.  I think it will look FAB!

I mean just look how delicious they are!

Sunday Stash #6 - Make Life

As I mentioned last week, Sweetwater are up at the top of the list of my favourite fabric designers.  I do think however that I love their order lines more than I have their current ones.  Pure, Authentic and Make Life are my favourite fabric lines of all time.

I managed to find bundle of fat quarters of Make Life on Instagram under The Great Fabric Destash (also be sure the check Great Aussie Destash) hashtag. I was unable to resist and thankfully it showed up on my doorstep the other day.



Yum, yum, yum!  Now just to find the perfect pattern!

Sunday Stash #5 - Varsity

I love getting my hands on pre-release fabric!  It's like a little thrill getting something before everyone else has it.

Sweetwater is one of my favourite fabric designers ever but I wasn't sold on their new varsity line.  Until I saw it in person.  Perfect design, perfect boy colours.  SOLD!

I purchased a charm pack from Patchworks Plus on Instagram.  I tend to restrict myself to a charm pack because I'm on a budget and I can't afford to buy a layer cake (or jelly roll, or fat quarter bundle) of every line I like,   Charm packs are cheap and usable and prefect for getting that line without all the commitment money wise :)

I mean look at the detail in that print!

Sunday Stash #4 - Bra Making Kit

As I've mentioned before I've been wanting to sew my own lingerie. I've succeeded in making my own undies, but I have yet to conquer a bra.  One of the hardest things is trying to get all the items you need.  Until now.

I purchased this amazing bra making kit from Susan at Measure Twice, Cut Once.  Let me tell you the camera does not do this justice.  It is incredibly vibrant in person and will look amazing when I've finished it.

Susan also has other colours listed on her website from time to time (She had a grey one a while ago that was to die for!).  I can't wait to get stuck in and get this one finished!

Sunday Stash #3 - I heart Rayon

A bit of a catch up today, about the fabric I used in yesterdays Gallery Tunic.

I went looking for the prefect fabric to make and knew that I wanted to use Rayon. I know I've probably said this before but Rayon is one of my favourite fabrics ever.  It's light yet heavy enough it doesn't need lining.  It feels amazing and has a lovely luster.  The only down side is it does crease really easily, but I'm willing to put up with that for such an amazing fabric.

I found this heart one from Spotlight and knew it was the prefect fabric.  It would be light and breezy and the small pattern of the hearts would add just the right amount of detail.

I think it looks pretty good!

Sunday Stash #2 - Quilting Fabric

I went up to the coast to visit my sister the other week so of course I had to make a pit stop at East Coast Fabrics.  East Coast is my favourite fabric store, mainly due to the crazy prices you can get amazing fabrics!  Most (about 90% or so if not more) of their quilting fabric is under $9.95/m.  Now, that might not seem cheap to people living in the US, but considering the retail of Robert Kaufman fabrics is Australia is about $20/m under $9.95 is nuts!  Sadly East Coast doesn't seem to stock Moda, but that is about the only brand of quilting fabric I have never seen there.

East Coast also have a wonderful range of dress making fabrics but this time I stuck to the quilting fabric section.

The first fabric I got was this Princess and the Pea fabric from the Quiet Time range by Tamara Kate for Michael Miller.  I totally adore it.  I bought enough of it for the backing of a baby quilt because that is where I can see myself using it.

Next I grabbed this Timeless Treasures bias black and white stripe for binding.  I really like the bias stripe for the biding.  Plus you can never go wrong with black and white stripes for binding.  Though this fabric does hurt my eyes if I look at it for too long!  Thankfully that will be solved when it's cut for binding width.

I also grabbed 1/2 a metre each of these two teal dots (The left has no selvedge info, the right is by Jaycyn for Birch Fabrics).  Teal is up there as one of my favourite colours and there was no way I could leave them behind.

Sunday Stash - Everyone Deserves Pretty Knickers Week

In my quest to make some more knickers and bras I took a trip to Lincraft to get some supplies (and enjoy their 40% off).

I mostly purchased mesh and lace as it comes in very handy for the patterns I'm using.  Plus they help make things look a bit more feminine.

The bottom on the pile is a slub knit.  It feels amazing!  I can't wait to get a pair of knickers in it!

While I was at Lincraft I also took advantage of their selection of lingerie trims and elastics and stocked up (Why weren't these included in the 40% off!)

I think I got a pretty good selection.  Fold Over Elastic in white, black, nude and navy.  Black Rick Rac Elastic trim, matching width elastics, a whole matching set including bra strapping and fluro green bra strapping!  I have no idea what I'm using the green with at the moment but I love it!

I had grabbed some bra hardware, like hooks and strap adjusters and left them all at the counter, thankfully without paying for them!  These kind of things tend to happen to me on a Friday afternoon.

I've already used some of it to have some fun and make some pretty new knickers, I can't wait to get stuck in and make some more!
